SJRWMD Addresses Water Levels on Harris Chain PDF Print E-mail

The SJRWMD has taken action to address water level issues on the Harris Chain of Lakes. They will be raised by as much as 6-inches.  Now let's pray for rain this year!!!

Today, the BCC agreed to suspend transportation impact fees for another year. I voted in favor of this decision as I believe we need to do everything we can to promote economic growth in Lake County.

Lake's Enterprise Zone is Now Official PDF Print E-mail

The State of Florida's Department of Economic Opportunity has concluded its review of Lake County's proposed Enterprise Zone package and has officially designated the proposed area (parts of Mascotte, Eustis, Leesburg, and unincorporated Lake County) in Lake County as an "Enterprise Zone".  Today we received a letter from Thomas Beck, Director of Community Planning in the Department of Economic Opportunity.

A Word about New EMS Ambulance Deployment Plan PDF Print E-mail

Recently the City of Clermont expressed serious concern about Lake EMS's new "hybrid" deployment plan.  The new deployment system has been in place for seven weeks. The old deployment model placed ambulances around the County at mostly fixed points including some fire houses.

Read Below -  Excerpts from the Daily Sun article on the CFAC - Excellent article, the author Livi Stanford, was at almost every CFAC meeting to document the progress.  The full version of this article is available from the Daily Sun (I am respecting their publishing rights). 

The key question I ask here is "what is the cost to the County (and our children) if we don't start acting now? This County has many great leaders and I believe we are capable of planning for our current and future transportation needs in a professional manner that is not exclusive to other critical needs such as education and public safety.  Here's hoping good dialog and planning begins at the December 13 BCC meeting.  And of course,  your input in the coming months is most important.

At today's BCC meeting, the Capital Facilities Advisory Committee (CFAC) presented a key report making recommendations for future funding of Lake's transportation needs.

Lake to Lead in Water Resources Planning PDF Print E-mail

On Monday, September 19th, the City of Groveland passed unanimously, a resolution seeking collaboration among the south Lake County municipalities and Lake County in reclaimed water projects and water conservation. 

 

This effort is being lead by Councilmember Tim Loucks and me.  The Groveland City council members and staff have also diligently worked on this effort.

 

I believe this could make Lake County a leader in water resources planning - specifically water supply.  How does this benefit you?
